Melanie Horn Mallers, Ph.D., MS
Dr. Horn Mallers is an assistant professor in Human Services and Gerontology at California State University, Fullerton. She was trained to be a life span developmental researcher with a focus on stress, health and coping across adulthood. Her educational background also includes intensive emphasis on family systems theory, social ecology and biopsychosocial models of human development. She conducts research on health and wellness across the life span. Her previous research has included an examination of women’s daily physical health symptoms and daily stressful experiences across adulthood. Her current research addresses the relationship between impaired childhood attachment and daily physical and emotional health symptoms during middle adulthood.
She has worked for several mental health facilities, including group homes, the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and Community Hospital of Long Beach. Dr. Mallers also has extensive background in health promotion, program planning, implementation and evaluation. She has served as a caregiver support group leader and community speaker for the Alzheimer’s Association. She activity participates in local and national fundraisers, including the Alzheimer’s Walk, Relay for Life and Race for the Cure.
Dr. Horn Mallers currently serves as a Health Specialist for MVE Institutional, specializing in a wide variety of wellness issues ranging from geriatrics and aging, to mental illness and social issues.
