Ernesto Vasquez, AIA
President
An experienced proponent of healthy communities and revitalized urban centers, Ernesto M. Vasquez, AIA, is a renowned community advocate who easily interacts with schools and colleges, housing and transportation authorities and redevelopment agencies to bring the goals of viable community to fruition. Vasquez insightful and comprehensive designs answer to the prerogatives of smart-growth and transit-oriented development. He envisions and develops environments that are socially and environmentally responsible and economically vigorous.
Vasquez oversees and supports MVE Institutional's design teams in new construction, restoration, asset management, expansion and modernization programs, as well as planning efforts for private and public institutions. Vasquez has somewhat pioneered the role of the "architectural diplomat" - he is particularly adept at forging together the goals of both public and private community interest groups into successful developments.
As a proponent of placemaking and smart development, Vasquez strives to create a sense of community and environmental responsibility in each new project that MVE Institutional undertakes. He believes that a sense of community is created by places in the public realm that give each place its unique character, spirit, identity and, most importantly, promote and invite diverse gatherings of people for a variety of activities at all times. It is this sense of place that gives birth to thriving, vibrant and successful communities. Sustainable design is also at the core of each MVE Institutional project and Vasquez strives to balance social responsibility with aesthetically pleasing architecture.
With over thirty years of experience, Vasquez has led design teams on more than 800 projects both domestically and globally. His projects have earned accolades from such institutions as the American Institute of Architects, Urban Land Institute and the National Association of Home Builders. Of the awards, Vasquez says, "It is nice to be recognized, but it is even more gratifying to know our projects are improving the quality of life in urban and transit settings, and will be for generations to come."
