California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is a nationally ranked public university that currently enrolls more than 17,500 students. The 6,000 acre-campus is nestled in the foothills, just minutes from CaliforniaÆs Central Coast beaches. This project represents one of the largest student housing developments in the state university system's history and will be a significant aid to Cal Poly's relationship with the city, by balancing student housing with community needs.

MVE provided the design bridging documents for 2,700 beds of new student housing on 30 acres of on-campus agricultural land located to the north of the campus core. In addition, two 1,000-car parking structures are integrated into the master plan. The project involves relocating the current agriculture uses and transforming the area with sensitive reconstruction of the Brizzola Creek and riparian trail system to sensitively link the existing campus with the new student housing district. Envisioned as a town center for student living, the new housing will bring apartment style living on campus and supplement the current student housing stock.
