Sited adjacent to the existing La Sierra Community Center and park, this state-of-the-art facility is designed to function as an active senior community clubhouse combining several forms of recreation and activities. Seniors will be able to participate in multiple activities throughout the day including billiards, crafts, exercise and fitness workouts, computer classes, and socializing and reading in the fireplace lounge. There is a 5,350 square foot banquet hall with a stage that also features a full kitchen to accommodate the senior nutrition program. Recreation activities such as yoga, dancing or music classes are scheduled to use this space as well. The facility banquet area, restrooms, and the fireplace lounge are available for rental to the surrounding community on the weekends; the banquet hall can be divided into two large spaces for simultaneous uses for various community activities.
The facility provides a senior transportation shuttle drop-off area along with sixteen accessible stalls designated for the seniorsÆ use. Other amenities include covered entrance areas with seating, exterior patio with direct access to the banquet hall, exterior plaza with fountain, arts and crafts patio, exterior kiln/ceramics storage and billiardÆs room outdoor seating. This new complex will be viewed as a community clubhouse rather than merely a static "recreation building" for elders.
