Sustainability Highlights

Alameda Juvenile Justice Center

Designed by affiliate MVE & Partners in conjunction with Rosser International, Alameda Juvenile Justice Center is the only juvenile detention center in the nation to receive a LEED Gold certification. The 360-bed facility includes a five courtroom building plus medical and dental facilities. Exceptional levels of efficiency were achieved in water-efficient irrigation technology and plumbing fixtures, comply with Title 24 requirements, solar panels, wind-generated energy, recycled construction waste and use of bio-diesel fuel.

UC Irvine Palo Verde II

This student housing development was the first University of California, Irvine project to achieve LEED Gold certification. Designed by MVE & Partners, multiple strategies have been implemented to integrate green building elements throughout the project's design and construction. Major design consideration areas included water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources and indoor environmental quality.

Sacramento State University Student Housing

Construction started in 2007 on this 600-bed student housing complex for Sacramento State University and is designed to achieve a LEED Gold level rating. The Student Housing Project will be incorporate sustainable measures such as energy efficient lighting and cooling systems, water efficient fixtures, low VOC products, and bike racks.

Port of Los Angeles Police Headquarters

This new complex will house the Los Angeles Port Police Headquarters and Maritime Studies Center and will respond the special security and training requirements of one of the nation's most prominent ports of entry. The project will achieve a LEED Gold level rating and will feature photovoltaic solar panels for generating electricity, water-efficient landscaping and plumbing, an on-site storm-water management system, recycled construction waste and other environmentally friendly measures.

Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS)

When designing educational facilities and schools, MVE Institutional uses the CHPS design criteria and has completed several CHPS certified schools, including South Region Elementary School No.12, Redondo Union High School Master Plan, Edison High School Master Plan,Valley Region Elementary School No. 6, South Region High School No.12, Orchard Hills School andWalton Special School Master Plan. The CHPS standards are designed to increase student performance with better-designed and healthier facilities, raise awareness of the impact and advantages of high performance school design, provide design professionals with better tools to facilitate effective design, increase school energy and resource efficiency and reduce peak electric loads.
